Approximate Incremental Dynamic Analysis Using Reduction of Ground Motion Records
Incremental dynamic analysis (IDA) requires the analysis of the non-linear response history of a structure for an ensemble of ground motions, each scaled to multiple levels of intensity and selected to cover the entire range of structural response. Recognizing that IDA of practical structures is computationally demanding, an approximate procedure based on the reduction of the number of ground m...
متن کاملOn Differentiation of Integrals and Approximate Continuity
The following discussion is closely connected with Lebesgue's theorem that the derivative of an integral is equal to the integrand almost everywhere. I t is well known that in generalizing this theorem to higher dimensions, great care must be exercised in the choice of the systems of intervals or sets used for ^-dimensional differentiation. Lebesgue had already observed that arbitrary intervals...
متن کاملOn the Approximate Calculation of Double Integrals
Cubature formulas are obtained which are optimal or asymptotically optimal on given sets of functions. These formulas consist of line integrals which may be evaluated by optimal or asymptotically optimal quadrature formulas. The advantage of these formulas over the optimal and asymptotically optimal cubature formulas with rectangular-lattices of knots is shown.
متن کاملAn Approximate Formula for Multiple Integrals
A fifth degree approximate integration formula for hypercubes is constructed. If the integrand is a real function of n independent real variables and the integer number k satisfying the condition 1 ≤ k < n is given, then a 2 + (n k ) 2 + 1 point non–product quadrature is obtained. In the case n = 4, some comparative numerical examples are considered.
متن کاملConvergence rates of approximate sums of Riemann integrals
The Riemann sums and the trapezoidal sums of functions defined on a bounded closed interval are well known as approximate sums of the Riemann integrals of the functions. In this paper the author represents the convergence rates of the Riemann sums and the trapezoidal sums as some limits of their expanded error terms. Let [a, b] be a bounded closed interval. We take an n-division ∆ of [a, b] def...
